Hi everybody, Dr. Jodi Kinney. Today I want to talk a little bit about patients that we see who have been in car accidents, motorcycle accidents, even bicycle accidents. It’s called Personal injury. And we see lots of patients who have been involved in those types of injuries.
Unfortunately, car accidents are a terrible reality of our modern driving and getting around and millions of people sustain injuries and from accidents and really need to get care after and don’t get the care that they need. And the care they have the right to receive. So many people may sustain back pain or neck pain or get a whiplash or and they usually end up if they don’t go to an urgent care or hospital or seek some kind of care after their accident, they usually end up with some type of chronic pain that they have to live with for years and years. So I’ve seen patients two, three, even six months after they’ve been involved in an accident, who come to me with things like back pain or neck pain or sciatica, or pain down into their extremities, concussions and headaches. When you come into our office, after you fill out some paperwork, we make a relation and we get all the information that we have that we need from your insurance adjuster and your insurance company policy, claim numbers all of that information is going to be important. We’re going to do a thorough history. So I take my patients back into my office where it’s private. And I take a thorough consultation and history. I need to know all the details about what was happening in this accident. If you wore seatbelts or not to your airbags go off where exactly did this all occur? Who was at fault what type of injuries you sustained what happened exactly from beginning to end. In case I need to document this information for a either insurance or perhaps an attorney or maybe even for a police report.
After we get all the details and all the information, I’m going to take you to one of the rooms in my office where we do your examination in this room will do chiropractic exam, functional exam, orthopedic neurologic range of motion exam palpation, I make sure I get all the information that I need. So that again, we can receive all this and put all this together in our documentation, so that we can send it off to your insurer or an attorney and whoever you may need to get your documentation to. And then of course, we always want to get some imaging. So we have state of the art digital X ray right on site in our office, where we can take digital X rays, there’s no more film, we get your image zipped up right away on our screen. So we can see not guess we want to know exactly what it is that’s going on after you sustain injuries in your accident. And we have it all in black and white. And again, we put that all together in our documentation and send that off to your insurer whoever we need to. So we can get you all your care covered and we can get on to getting you better as soon as possible.
