Six Stretches to Heal Whiplash in Belmar, NJ

Six Stretches to Heal Whiplash | Chiropractor for Whiplash in Belmar, NJ

In my series on whiplash and what you should do, today’s video focuses on achieving proper range of motion in your neck, especially if you’ve experienced a whiplash injury.

Different Ranges of Motion

Whiplash often leads to issues like a loss of neck curve, forward head posture, pain, stiffness, weakness, and even numbness or tingling in the arms, hands, or fingers, along with potential headaches. To address this, it’s crucial to reestablish healthy range of motion. There are six ranges of motion in the neck, including flexion and extension. For those recovering from a whiplash injury, it’s important to start slowly and only move within your comfort range. With repetition, you can gradually achieve healthier motion. The same principle applies to right and left rotation, aiming to reach about 80 to 90 degrees with your chin over your shoulder. Lastly, there’s right and left lateral flexion. Maintain an upright posture, avoiding shoulder shrugging, and focus on bringing your ear down to your shoulder.

If you suspect a whiplash injury, it’s essential to promptly get your spine checked by professionals at Kinney Chiropractic. Meanwhile, work on these ranges of motion to contribute to your recovery. That’s it for now. See you soon. Dr. J signing off.
